A curved gantry built from a bent 2020 aluminum V-slot profile, an MJF-printed nylon structure and a belt-driven carriage, as a low-cost alternative to HIWIN curved rails.
Why
Commercial curved rails such as HIWIN’s are expensive.
What I built
- Curved a 2020 aluminum V-slot profile.
- Printed the structure in MJF nylon.
- Added a belt-driven carriage for a fully working curved gantry. The clip shows it running along the arc.
Result
A working curved gantry at a fraction of the cost of a commercial curved rail system.
